Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Former England Cricket Team Captain Nasser Hussain has shown faith in the anticipated return of Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant to the field in 2024. Pant, who survived a serious car accident in December 2022, is on the verge of recovering. Pant is expected to make his comeback in the 2024 season of the IPL. He last made a competitive appearance in December 2022 when India played their second Test in Bangladesh.
Despite the slow recovery process, Hussain highlighted Pant's progress in a statement to the ICC, acknowledging the support provided by former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who also serves as the head coach of the Delhi Capitals.
"That was such a serious accident. The whole world held its breath and it has been a slow recovery," Hussain said.
"India have done well without him (Pant) as KL has come in and been brilliant in all formats," Hussain noted. "They'll continue to be brilliant. They're lucky to have both of them, but Rishabh Pant, before his injury, was box office, and hopefully after his injury, will be box office as well."
KL Rahul has assumed the primary wicketkeeping role in Pant's absence, but Pant is expected to reclaim his position in the team once he is available for selection.
